Small, efficient, Straw Bale houses can be affordable, inspiring to build and live in, good for you and good for the planet.  Arayasun Construction has developed "Economically Conscious Home Options". A series of small straw bale house plans designed around pure efficiency. These small, beautiful Straw bale designs use simple and effective construction techniques to create a strong, durable and economically practical home.

 

All of these small Turnkey homes are designed to be expandable and to grow easily as the need should arise. We integrate plumbing efficiency and renewable energy systems to cut cost and waste.

This home is off grid except for propane which is used for cooking only.  There is no need for a heating or cooling source for this home & it sustains and serves a family of 7 comfortably.

 This home, upon completion, will be 2,344 sq. ft., 2 car garage, 2 bedroom, 2 bath, office, passive solar strawbale home located in the Lagarita Mountain Range.  This home will be LEED Certified with a Gold Standard.  Equiped with a solar hot water heating system including a hot tub as well as a grid tie solar system.  There will be many asethics that will create a self sufficient home with no on grid bills with an Energy Star rating.  As this project continues we will update the slide show and video tours.  Thank you for viewing and check-in periodically for multi-phase completion pictures.
 



The Bivowac property was built with recycled/sustainable wood.



 This Bivowac property is 1720 sq. ft. with 2 bedrooms, 2 bath vacation home was designed by using recycled 4"x8" oak dovetail timbers.  The trim and floors are handcrafted Pecan, Walnut, Red and White Oak, Cottonwood, Aspen and Juniper trees.  The sunroom has adobe floors iwth a super green marbled alize finish.  Sustainably harvested local wood creates a soft natural asethics within the home.  The 1/2" adobe plaster and clay alize finish on the interior gives you a stawbale interior finish with a solid oak log exterior.  This is perfect for entertaining or a quiet retreat in the Pine Forest of the Sangre De Cristo mountains.  This house is completely electric heat and hot water.  Operating costs are at $780.00 per year.  Energy Star blower test is available.
